The highs and lows of event planning…

An honest review by our wonderful intern Meg

As the final year project at university, I have been tasked with organising a THEM Conference alongside other students. This event gave me the opportunity to gain more experience in event planning, but also taught me more about the highs and lows of this industry.

The theme of this year’s THEM Conference was employability. To deliver the best possible experience to the students, we had to think of activities and workshops they could participate in during the day. As much as I enjoyed watching this event come to life and delivering all the activities on the day without delays or any major problems, not everything went smoothly in the process of planning it.

Finding the venue, confirming the attendance of the guests, securing sponsorship and refreshments, it all takes time and can be stressful when waiting for a response. The first idea that everything would get booked quickly got completely crushed when just booking the rooms for the conference took more than a month. This is also a constantly changing industry, so last minute adjustments had to be made in order to deliver the event. Even on the day, two speakers had to be switched as one did not get to the venue on time.

So, event planning can be rewarding and bring a lot of opportunities to learn and grow as a person, but it is also stressful and can take a very long time to confirm anything, and it should not be taken for granted :)

Pink Mamma or Big Mamma?

Why not both? On our last trip to Paris we went to the viral restaurant Pink Mamma located just a 4-minute walk from the Moulin Rouge venue at Place Blanche.

Pink Mamma’s food is home-made and all their products come straight from Italy.

After looking at the menu, we have decided to give their pasta and pizza napoletana a try, and I can honestly tell you - it was the best decision we have ever made. The truffle pasta had the savoury notes we enjoy and the 4 cheese pizza (funnily called Cheese Lady) gave us that sweet note in our mouths that left us wanting more.

Obviously, we also had to try their signature cocktail called Big Mamma. In the big wine glass you get a mix of Ketel Vodka One, lime cordial, ginger beer, fruits and “love”. We could definitely feel the love when tasting it.

This italian trattoria offers a different menu every month, so if you are planning a trip to Paris you better hurry up and book it now before the menu changes!

ATEEZ are back in London!

The second male and third in general K-Pop act to perform at the legendary O2 Arena are back on tour and they came back to London after less than a year.

This 4 year old group consisting of 8 members is already known worldwide for their hard and creative choreographies and angelic vocals, and that is exactly what they showed us last night!

Starting off with the soundcheck, followed by the opening of the concert with New World, they took us on a journey through their discography. Not only did we get to see them perform some of their hit songs like HALA HALA, Say My Name, Answer, Wonderland and Guerrilla, but also some of fan-favourites like Horizon, Cyberpunk or Mist.

Lastly, it would not be a K-Pop concert without some fan service! ATEEZ made their fans feel comfortable and loved, and also made sure everyone stayed safe the whole time.

If you have not yet seen them or any other K-Pop groups at a concert, it is time for you to get those tickets!
Let us know who are you going to see.

(As you can probably tell from the pictures, my bias is Yeosang).
