The Perfect Yorkshire Summer Wedding of Flora & David

It was an absolute delight to plan and oversee Flora and David's magical wedding at Grantley Hall on June 2nd, 2024. The day began bright and early at 4am, with the talented production team Evallance setting up the ceremony area. Following closely behind was the incredibly talented florist Kelly Louise, whose beautiful creations sbrought the setting to life by 10am.

Our team ensured that every detail was perfect, from the chairs, charger plates, and cutlery provided by Great Options Hire, to the stunning cake from Where the Ribbon Ends for the Grantley Suite. Evallance even laid a white carpet in the suite to maintain the dreamy ambiance from the ceremony to the dinner (Sandie will cover hotel carpet at any chance!) The seamless order of setup included the ceremony area, Grantley Suite, Orchid, Grantley Suite, and finally, Valeria’s.

Capturing every precious moment of the day were the talented Juno Films as the videographer and Andrew Bayda as the photographer. All stationary, meticulously designed, was created by Millie Rose, adding a touch of elegance to every aspect of the wedding.

The festivities officially kicked off at 3pm as guests arrived for the ceremony, where the enchanting harpist Soraya welcomed them. Each guest received an order of service and was gracefully escorted to their seats. The ceremony commenced at 3.30pm, followed by a delightful drinks reception at 4.15pm in the serene orchard, and a sumptuous dinner at 5.45pm in the opulent Grantley Suite.

Entertainment was a key highlight of the evening, with Andre Saxman Brown serenading guests during the drinks reception, while Soraya enchanted with her harp and Michael with his piano skills during dinner. The heartfelt speeches by Flora's dad, the best man, and the groom were truly touching, culminating in Flora's outfit change into a stunning Vivienne Westwood dress for the cake cutting and first dance.

The party truly began after dinner, with the master of ceremonies Mark transitioning into introducing DJ Joel, who kept the dance floor alive until 11pm when evening food was served. The celebration continued at Valeria’s, where guests danced the night away until 2.30am.

Post-celebrations, the meticulous de-rig of the Grantley Suite was completed by 2.45am as guests moved to Valeria’s to continue the festivities. The wedding was a success, filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories that will be cherished for years to come. As cheesy as it sounds we do remember and cherish each and every event but especially our weddings.

Flora and David's wedding at Grantley Hall was a truly wonderful affair filled with love and laughter. As the wedding planner it was an honour to be a part of their special day and witness the magic unfold. Giving a huge thanks to Flora & David to not only choosing to work with us but truly trusting us with the design of the ceremony & dinner areas. After 15 years in the events industry we say when there is complete trust the results end up being the best! For more images and videos visit our instagram @serenitylondon.

Wedding Alternatives

Many of you may have already had the pleasure of being a guest to one of many weddings planned for the summer or you may even be a prospective bride or groom for your wedding this year. Apart from the classic and traditional memories of the day including the entrance of the bride, the first dance and the obligatory embarrassing speech by Father of the Bride and that’s all before the evening begins. The small details are what I notice at weddings; here are some unique touches and alternatives to wedding classics that I have seen:

1)      A “Cheese” Cake – not the New York style (although that is an option) but instead of layers of sweet options, this is for those with a more savoury tooth. It also serves as an additional evening food option and supermarket’s such as Mark’s and Spencer’s sell them for as little as £95!

2)      Centrepieces – if you decide that you don’t want a large flower arrangement for your centre pieces on the tables, there are plenty of ideas that will create the subtle or dramatic effect that you want to create. I recently saw a cupcake centre piece shaped as if they were roses, this is an excellent sweet treat idea perfect for the kids and adults!

3)      Boozy Baths – I took this inspiration from a recent holiday in Mexico where they had a Moet & Chandon champagne bath on multiple theme nights (yes I did want to take this home!) If your drinks reception is going to be outside, a beer bath or barrow could be created by filling it with ice and your favourite beers. Likewise you can fill it with mini bottles of prosecco or even soft drinks.

I hope these alternatives to wedding classics have inspired you to put a twist on your upcoming wedding or event.
